President Trump Will Not Give Up — and You Can’t Either

RUSH: We have Anna from St. Augustine, Florida, and I’m glad you called. Hi.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. A lifelong dream to talk to you. I’m 30 years old, and I’ve listened to you for as long as I can remember. I have a 5-year-old and a 3-year-old now who listen to you and who inquire about your health on a daily basis. The reason I’m calling today is that for the first time in my life I would say I am just feeling hopeless and a little defeated about the state of our country.

And I’m looking at my daughter, and I’m genuinely worried that she’s gonna grow up not knowing the America that I have known. And I know there’s probably a lot of other Rush Babies out there right now who have their own kids and probably feel the same way right now. And I just thought, what the heck, I’m in the car for a few hours, if I could just talk to you today, that you would know what to say to get my perspective back on track and offer up some hope.

RUSH: I do know what to say. I do have a suggestion. And, by the way, you’re not alone. There are many people who think that the future of the country is not going to be as bright and as good as the past. A lot of people are legitimately afraid. Many of them are parents and grandparents, like you, who are scared to death that the forces of anti-Americanism are winning and that there doesn’t seem to be any coordinated effort of my substance or power to stop them.

And the first thing to do — and this will work — turn off all television news for a week. Just don’t watch anything. I don’t care what network. Don’t watch it. You may think, “That’s impossible. I gotta keep up with things.” No. If you want to keep up with the news, find the things that you trust and go to them via websites or what have you. But do not watch televised cable news. Just try it for a week, and I will guarantee you one thing will happen. Your attitude will change dramatically.

Once you’ve shut out the primary source of fear and negativism and pessimism, once you simply prevent that stuff from getting past your boundaries and into your system, you’ll have a remarkably different outlook on every day. I’m not telling you to be in denial. I’m not telling you to bury your head in the sand. I’m saying avoid the propaganda and the people lying to you who want you to feel exactly the way you feel.

That is their objective. And then realize President Trump has limitless energy. He is a fighter. He is not going to fall to these people. He’s not going to cave. He’s not gonna give up on you. He is not gonna give up on the country. And he’s going to find people continually to surround him who have the same point of view. But I have even other things to tell you if you can hang on and wait. I gotta go a break here because of the lack of time. Hang on out there, Anna.

RUSH: So now back to Anna in St. Augustine, and I’m glad you have a little bit more time here. You are still with us. I just need to confirm, right?

CALLER: Yes, I’m here.

RUSH: Okay. To refresh if you’re just joining, you said you’re 30 years old, you have a child, and you’re worried that we’ve lost America.

CALLER: Yes, and I knew if there was anyone who could give me that hope and perspective, it would be you.

RUSH: Well, I appreciate that, and I’m gonna try. Just so that everybody listening knows, she told me in the last hour, right before it ended, that she feels hopeless about the state of the country, and doesn’t like feeling this way and wants to know if she’s right or wrong. Are the better days behind us? Just to repeat, for your own mental attitude, turn off all cable news for a week.

And I don’t say this lightly. I want you to try it. I do it. Your attitude on life is going to change rapidly when you do not subject yourself to the constant lies — and that’s what you’re being hit with. You’re being lied to. You’re being propagandized. You’re being depressed. They are purposely… The people that do news today are purposely trying to drive people like you away from your support of Trump.

They’re trying to drive you away from your support of America as it was founded. They’re doing their best to make you think that you have lost. They want you to believe that there’s no reason to resist anymore. They want you to think there’s no reason to fight, that Trump has blown it, that they are winning, and that they are going to win.

You simply have to stop subjecting yourself to this every day. That’s just the first step. It’s just the first thing. It’s an experiment. Try it and see if I’m not right. I’m not saying avoid the news. You can continue to listen to me every day. I guarantee you I will not depress you. I guarantee you I will not make you think all is lost.

CALLER: Exactly. (laughing)

RUSH: And I guarantee you I will still keep you informed multiply, but you can also read some websites that you trust. But I would literally not watch television news. I just… It may not take a full week. Try it for three or four or five days.

RUSH: There’s another thing that you have to realize. I just made a big deal in the first hour of pointing out how — and I have a piece here in the New York Post confirming it — that the lying about Donald Trump, President Trump, is out of control. It’s phenomenal. Everything you’re seeing and hearing in the news about Trump is a lie to one extent or another.

Let me tell you, I never, Anna, I never went home in the afternoon and turned on cable news. I haven’t done that in years. I’ve been doing it the past two weeks. And I am stunned, I’m telling you, I’m stunned by a number of things. First thing that stuns me is the level of stupidity, just general IQ stupidity among people in the news. Then their lack of curiosity overwhelms me. It is depressing because these are people that apparently don’t have the sense to challenge or question anything that they’re being told. I would also — do you do Facebook or Twitter?

CALLER: I don’t do Twitter. I scroll through Facebook, but I’m pretty much done. It’s just gotten out of control —

RUSH: All right. Turn it off.

RUSH: Do the same thing. Just leave it for a week. There’s plenty of stuff out there to occupy your mind. There’s plenty of things to do that don’t require using social media. The reason why this is important, they’re trying to drive you out of politics. They’re trying to make you think your vote doesn’t matter; they’re trying to make you think what you think doesn’t matter. They’re trying to make you give up, essentially, to put your hands up in frustration and say, “What I think, what I will vote doesn’t matter.”

Don’t let ’em get away with this in any way, shape, manner, or form because while you’re doing that, rest assured that Donald Trump is not giving up. He is singularly the best fighter, the most energetic, he’s indefatigable. He does not give up. He does not stop. And he’s not going to. And he realizes what’s going on.

The foundation of the opposition, Anna, is all lies. Now, a lot of people think, “Well, that doesn’t matter, Rush. They’re getting away with it.” It used to be that lies were a very weak foundation for any movement to be built on because they’re lies. I mean, eventually they’re gonna come crashing down. A lot of people think the liars are prevailing, the liars are winning, the liars are getting away with it. You don’t know that because the media is not showing you anything other than everybody who buys into this.

As far as you’re concerned, if you watch the news, you’re all alone, there is nobody else like you out there. That’s another thing they’re trying to do, is make you feel isolated. But I guarantee you you’re not. I guarantee you there are millions and millions just like you with the same fear that you have who are also thinking, “My gosh, I’m alone. My gosh, I’m the only person who thinks like I think, except maybe for Rush or maybe for Sean or Levin or whoever.”

You’re not alone. You’re not alone. You have an entire conservative media that they have not been able to ruin, dispatch, and we’re winning. In cable news, Fox is winning. It may not be exactly what you want it to be. They may be going through things that make you mad, whatever, but nobody’s giving up here, nobody’s throwing in the towel.

CALLER: I have had so much faith in Trump, and today everything just started creeping into my head and I was starting to think, you know, maybe Trump can’t handle all this —

RUSH: Why did you think that? What might be causing you to lose your faith in Trump?

CALLER: Nothing necessarily grounded on facts, just the chaos, just the chaos that seems to be everywhere —

RUSH: Chaos doesn’t end.

CALLER: That’s what I needed to be reminded of and it’s exactly what I needed to hear, ’cause I do have immense faith in Trump’s ability to lead our country forward out of this. So I greatly appreciate that reminder about his determination and his ability to lead our country.

RUSH: Let me tell you something. He called me two nights ago after the church walk.

CALLER: Hm-hm.

RUSH: He called me. He called me 10 minutes after he got back — he calls me at some of the most incredible times. Here he just finishes getting back to the White House from walking to St. John’s and holding up the Bible and he called me to check on me, he wanted to see how I’m doing. He does this every week or 10 days. And I guarantee, he was upbeat, he was in a great mood, he wanted to know — he asked my opinion on some policy things which I’m not gonna divulge ’cause I don’t have permission to.

But believe me, he’s fully engaged, and he knows the trouble spots that are surrounding him and so forth. But he’s not hiding in the bunker. None of this that you’re being told about him is true. Where were you for the first year of the Trump-Russia collusion scandal, when the Washington Post, New York Times are lying to you four or five times a day, every day, about that? Where was your head then?

CALLER: I was doing really well. I kept a very positive perspective throughout all of that. It’s just something about the current state of everything —

RUSH: Well, I know, but that’s my point. Nothing’s changed except that they’re piling even more and more on because nothing has worked. They haven’t been able to get rid of him yet. They haven’t been able to separate you from him yet. So don’t let them.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: Now, hang on one more minute. Gotta take one more break, Anna. Don’t go away. We’ll be back here in just a second and we’ll wrap it up for you.

RUSH: Okay. A few minutes left here, and I wanted to give Anna a chance to reply to all of the wisdom that I have shared with her here in this call. So it’s up to you now. You can react to the things I’ve advised you and told you. What do you think?

CALLER: It’s exactly what I needed to hear from you, Rush. I knew that I could talk to you and that you would get my perspective back in line and you’ve been such a big impact on just my worldview and literally my entire life. It’s been a dream to talk to you, so to get to talk to you on a day like today when I was in a, you know, rare place of hopelessness.

RUSH: Well, I’m glad you got through. I don’t want to sit here and in any way mislead you. I’m not telling you that there’s nothing to be concerned about. The efforts the left are making are serious, and their intent is to destroy the country as founded. And this is now not arguable. This is not a matter of debate. They are telegraphing it. They’re pretty much admitting it. They have to be stopped. They have to be opposed. The ballot box still matters. Elections have consequences.

The solution to this is as many people as possible never voting Democrat. You may say, “Rush, that’s not a solution.” It is. It’s the most available solution to us. The chance is coming up in about 22 weeks. It simply is the best solution that the American people en masse have. That is why I spend so much time trying to change minds and hearts about the truth of liberalism and the Democrat Party. I’ve been trying to warn people where they’re headed for years now. And I hope as this stuff all plays out that there are more and more people saying, “You know, Rush warned us and he was right.” I mean, that would be music to my ears. But you can’t object now.

These people are doing whatever they think they have to to tear down this country. They have been for years. That’s what open borders immigration has been about. It’s what sanctuary cities have been about. It’s what their attempt to get rid of the Second Amendment is about, folks. They’re being very up front and open. They hate this country as founded. They hate the Constitution. They want it done away with. They want the country transformed. They want a socialist or worse government. They are a minority. It doesn’t look like it because the media makes ’em look huge, but they’re a minority still.

We’re Witnessing the Massive Failure of Liberalism

RUSH: There also, ladies and gentlemen, you know, one of the themes that I have been on for a long time, but I’ve been intensely trying to drive home a point for the last two weeks, three weeks, and that is the utter failure of the Democrat Party to come through for its constituents. You’ve heard me say this I don’t know how many times. Maybe you’re a little tired of hearing me say it. The Democrat Party has been promising utopia. And yet where is all this police brutality happening? In Democrat blue states.

It’s so bad that they’re now seriously gonna defund police departments in Minneapolis, in New York, and in California. Liberalism is on record here as a total failure, folks. Socialism on record, on display, is a total failure. The Democrat Party, which is the home of all of that, on display as a public massive failure. Everything they have been promising their constituents are things for 50 years their constituents still have grievances about, their constituents are still complaining.

Look at civil rights. You have the Civil Rights Act 1964, 1965, LBJ and the Democrats going nuts, massively passing all this legislation to end inequality, to end discrimination, and yet what? It’s worse now than ever. It is worse than ever. The Democrat Party and liberalism and their prescriptions are worse than ever. It is an abject, total failure.

And so what have they had to do? Well, now they give back. They can’t blame themselves, obviously, which we all should. They are ultimately responsible. The Democrat Party (liberalism, leftism, communism, socialism, whatever) is an abject, total failure for the people who’ve been promised all of these wonderful benefits and utopian-type lifestyles.

So now what do they do to cover up their failure, which is a failure of over 50 years? Why, we gotta go back 400 years and we gotta blame America. We gotta blame America’s founding. America’s founding is itself unjust and immoral, and that’s where the real problem lies. America is irredeemable! America’s original sins, whatever they are — slavery, leaving other people out — can’t be fixed.

Why? Well, because the Democrat Party has been trying to fix ’em for 50 years and they failed, so obviously it can’t be fixed, and this is where we are. This is how they’re covering their own butts with their own people, their own voters. They can’t admit that what they believe in is a failure. They can’t admit that their ideas don’t work and haven’t worked.

So it’s the old fallback: Blame America and blame Republicans. Well, the reason I bring all this up is because I missed something yesterday that people called my attention to. It’s a Wall Street Journal column by Daniel Henninger, and the headline is: “Liberalism Has Failed, 50 years…” No, no. No. No, wait. That’s the headline I wrote. “America’s New Nihilism” is the headline.

You know what nihilism is, right? These intellectuals use these terms. Nihilism — nihilism, however you pronounce it — is a rejection of all religious and moral principles, and that’s what the left believes in. The left doesn’t believe in religion. They don’t believe in God, and they don’t want you believing in religion or God, and they certainly don’t believe in morality.

Morality, to them, is however each individual defines it. You don’t have the right to define morality! You… Nobody has the right to tell them what’s right and wrong. They get to do that. Well, that’s nihilism or nihilism, and this is also part of the way they’re covering up for their massive failure. Anyway, Henninger writes about this massive failure, and he traces it back…

You can go further than this, but he traces it back to 1968 and the protests in Chicago by the anti-war left against the Democrat Party, the convention, the DNC and all that. But it is really good. It’s really good, and I’m sorry I missed it, because I would have touted it yesterday, had I seen it. His column runs on Thursday. You may remember me talking when it came out.

Do you remember the Wall Street Journal headline or op-ed…? Actually, it was an editorial, meaning it wasn’t signed, and it was about how we’ve lost our guardrails? Henninger wrote that. Henninger wrote it. It’s rare for an unsigned editorial to have a life span like that one has. The guardrails are, you know, the things that keep us in the lanes: Morality and decency and right and wrong.

His piece was about the guardrails are plummeting, the guardrails are failing — the guardrails are falling, they’re disappearing — all because of liberalism and the Democrat Party. But, folks, it is so true, and it makes what’s happening now all the more hurtful and incredible because they have convinced all these young Millennial kids.

A lot of wealthy, white Millennials have joined Antifa. So they’ve convinced all these people of things that are not true, and they’ve convinced them to be angry at people they have no reason to be angry at — such as me, you and me. But it’s a mean trick to keep people — it’s a pretty good trick to keep people – fired up and wired up over something that has never worked.

But the point is that the Democrat Party, as it is constituted and as it is functioning today, all of this that’s happening that’s in relationship to the George Floyd murder, it’s all a failure. The fact that George Floyd was murdered is a testament to the failure of liberal Democrat politics. Where did it happen?

This kind of racism and bigotry and ugly behavior by the cops, the Democrats are supposed to have fixed that, right? I mean, that’s what the Democrat Party promises. There isn’t gonna be any of that stuff anymore. There isn’t gonna be any meanness. There isn’t gonna be any extremism where Democrats run the show, where Democrats rule the roost because that’s where there’s gonna be fairness, and equality, and sameness and all that.

And yet the worst examples of Americans’ depravity, the worst examples of America’s economic failing, the worst examples of America’s lack of morality are to be found right smack-dab in the middle of Democrat Party institutions, platforms, and existence.

RUSH: Now, back to the Daniel Henninger piece — and, folks, this is a hugely important thing. You know, this program is about the way people vote. This program is about changing minds and hearts. This program is about being in the arena of ideas and having a chance to reach people who both agree and disagree, but primarily among those who disagree, to reach them in a way to cause them to question what they think.

Not by lying to them. Not by tricking them. Not by using them or humiliating them. Simply giving them a truth that they have not been exposed to, or series of them. The failure of liberalism is what’s on parade here! The failure of the Democrat Party — the failure of the Civil Rights acts and the civil rights coalition, the failure of liberalism and socialism and communism — is on display with every riot, every protest march, every burned cop car, every torn-down building, every building set afire.

Every bit of evidence you see is a testament to the failure of liberalism, not to its success. It isn’t working. Its people are not happy. Its voters are not satisfied. They are not content. They’re not even close to content, much less happy. They are perennially enraged. They are constantly angry. And it makes perfect sense because every promise that’s been made has been broken. Every promise that’s been made has not been kept. And the promises are big.

I mean, you can’t promise much more than utopia. They have promised to eliminate cops killing black people. They have promised to eliminate racial discrimination against African-Americans and minorities. They have promised to eliminate people laughing at you and making fun of you. They have promised to get even with people who are mean-spirited and angry. They’ve promised to get even with all these people who have more money than you. They have promised they’re gonna get even with all these corporations, these multinationals that don’t hire you, and they overcharge you, and they cause you to lose your health care. They’re gonna get even with all of it.

And they don’t get even with anybody. And they don’t fix anything. And the people that vote for ’em know it. There’s a witness. They got witnesses. Fifty years of abject, total failure. The mystery is why they keep voting for ’em. We know the answer. Because they have convinced them that we are whatever, the worst examples of whatever can be. The popular comparison today is Nazis. We’re the modern incarnation of Nazis and Trump in Charlottesville, he said there are good people everywhere, including in the neo-Nazis, good things in the Klan. The Ku Klux Klan is a Democrat Party operation, folks. It always has been.

The Ku Klux Klan was the military wing of the Democrat Party back during the worst of the segregation days, and it was Democrat senators who led the segregation movement. And the Klan was their violence organization. Robert “Sheets” Byrd, a Grand Kleagle or grand cloogle or Grand Wizard, or whatever, now he’s a U.S. senator. Well, he’s not; he’s dead. But he was a United States senator from West Virginia, Robert “Sheets” Byrd. That somehow never did attach itself to the Democrats. He could go on TV and use the N-word. He did it on Meet the Press. He used the N-word. Well, everybody understood that he was reformed.

So these protests, I don’t care, peaceful or otherwise, they are demonstrations against failed Democrat blue state governors. They are demonstrations against failed blue state mayors and city managers. We’re being told that all these protests are aimed at us, us Republicans and us conservatives, but we didn’t do anything that’s made them mad. That stuff’s all happening in blue states. Minnesota, Minneapolis-St. Paul, liberal blue states, liberal blue cities running the police department. This is not supposed to be possible with Democrats running things. But look, it is. And it hasn’t changed in 50 years.

All of these protests from sea to shining sea, coast to coast, are in response to deplorable and failed Democrat, liberal leadership. And you need to take note of this. It should result in these people getting fewer and fewer and many fewer people voting for them because they’re failures. Donald Trump is not responsible for whatever grievances these people are marching against. Donald Trump wasn’t there when George Floyd died. Donald Trump wasn’t anywhere near when that went down.

Daniel Henninger’s piece. “This is not 1968. It’s worse. The late 1960s were the heyday of modern American liberalism, which was then an ideology of hope. A bipartisan Congress passed landmark civil-rights legislation in 1964 and 1965. The precipitating event of the urban riots in 1968 was the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. New York, Trenton, Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, Kansas City, and Washington were on fire. Arguably back then, despite passage of President Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society programs, not enough time had passed for liberal policies,” to actually take hold. So he’s being charitable here. So ’64, ’65, LBJ passes the civil rights legislation. The Great Society is what it was called. Massive welfare state creation. And by 1968, it still hadn’t had time to plant roots and sprout trees and whatever, so it was still questionable.

Okay. “Last week, George Floyd died after rough treatment from arresting Minneapolis policeman Derek Chauvin, who was arrested and charged with murder. Since then, there have been daily protests accompanied by riot and pillage in multiple U.S cities. A primary claim made repeatedly this week is that the U.S., which means the American people, are guilty of perpetual ‘systemic racism.’”

No. No. Just because things are all askew and broken in blue states does not mean America has a systemic racism problem. What it means is that liberalism and the Democrat Party have failed. But it doesn’t mean America is bad. It doesn’t mean that America has any explaining. America didn’t do anything. There is no systemic racism that explains what happened to George Floyd. What happened to George Floyd took place because liberal Democrat policies and liberal Democrat power do not solve the problems they promise to solve.

RUSH: We’ll go to Philadelphia. This is Robert. I’m glad you called, sir.

CALLER: Rush, you need to get it together, man, because this country needs you, you know what I’m saying? I mean, you gotta hang in there be, you know what I mean? We need you. We need you right now. So just hang in there. You know what I’m saying?

RUSH: Thank you, sir. Yep. Yep. Yep. I hear you. I hear you. I need to double down and work even harder. I got it.

CALLER: That’s it. I don’t believe that — this is my own personal opinion. I think this moved on to another section. It isn’t about the shutdown. It isn’t about the protests. It isn’t about the looting and the violence, which I’ve seen plenty living here in Philadelphia. I’m gonna walk outside my house and hear the ATMs blow up —

RUSH: What’s it about, then?

CALLER: It’s about the Democrats sabotaging this country. They lost on the Russian thing —

RUSH: That’s exactly – (crosstalk)

CALLER: — the Kavanaugh thing. Yeah. They lost on other things, and what do they got left? Sabotage. That’s it.

RUSH: Well, obviously they are sabotaging — although sabotage, in some people’s minds, carries with it secrecy, that sabotage occurs when people aren’t aware of it. This is happening right in front of our faces. That’s my point today. The Democrat Party is an abject failure. American liberalism is an abject failure, and they are attempting to sabotage the country despite that. The failure is so embarrassing that the people that run this party and this movement have created an alternative universe of explanations like systemic racism. That’s just one example.

RUSH: Look, I want to continue with this. To me, this is a huge, huge thing. It is such a teachable moment. It’s a golden opportunity. I know that many of you have kids that are Millennials, and they’re buying into all of this because they’ve been made to feel guilty over being white, and so they suffer “white privilege.”

They’re “white supremacists,” and they’re being made to feel guilty that all the problems in this country stem from the fact that white people founded it and created it, and that they’re now then — your kids — open to the concept of ripping the country apart and starting over. I’m sure it frustrates you, but some of you are falling for it.

Some of you, your parents, your kids are coming home from school and they’re telling you things. “Yeah, yeah.” You’re proud of your kids. You want your kids to be, oh, properly educated and so forth. This is dangerous stuff. These kids — and they’re kids. They’re learning the exact wrong things from this. They’re learning the exact opposite. What they ought to be learning is this stuff they’re supporting cannot possibly ever work.

It never has, and the Democrat Party — which personifies these beliefs — has failed since 1968. Actually, before that, but ’68 is a good starting point because it’s the last time we had massive riots and protests like this, which were also aimed at Democrats in 1968, just as these are. The difference here is in 1968, everybody knew. They’re in Chicago; they’re protesting the Democrat Party convention.

Now, here and now, the media is getting away with convincing a bunch of people that don’t know what they’re thinking about or talking about that all this is aimed at Donald Trump, that all of a this is Donald Trump’s fault, all of this is the Republican Party’s fault. There are no Republican fingerprints on this. Have you ever wondered what the politics of that cop in Minneapolis are?

Why haven’t you wondered?

See? It’s exactly my point. I’ll guarantee-damn-tee you, if this guy were MAGA, if this guy were a Trump donor, it’s all you’d a heard about. Guess he’s not. I guess these cops are not Donald Trump supporters or we would have heard about that. I’m just illustrating a point here. Donald Trump, nor you or I, have anything to do with this. “But, Rush! But, Rush! There’s systemic racism!”

Folks, there is Democrat Party failure. I ask African-Americans every time I talk to ’em, “Why do you keep voting Democrat? Everything they promised you, you’re still complaining about. Everything they’ve told you they’re gonna fix, you still are whining and moaning about how unfair it is or you’re discriminated against or the cops mistreat you or whatever.

“Why haven’t they fixed it? You have elected them to fix it! You have donated money to them to fix it. They have promised you they’re gonna fix it. They have promised you they’re gonna get even with the people that are mistreating you. Why doesn’t it happen? They are a visible, walking, never-ending example of evidence of failure — and so they come up with these things.

(impression) “Well, you know, the real problem is systemic racism dating back 400 years.” What an absolute crock! So they create this 1619 Project to say that America is flawed and irredeemable. Irredeemable means, “America cannot be fixed. The only solution is to rip America apart and start over — and this time, no white people get to play.” That, my friends, is the objective.

So they come up with things like systemic racism to explain their failures. “Well, the reason why you’re not happy — the reason why we haven’t been able to live up to our promises — is systemic racism.” No, no, no, no! You have promised to get rid of racism. You have promised to punish racists. You have promised to make life hell for people who mistreat African-Americans, and yet, the complaints keep rolling in.

It’s a serious question: Why do you keep voting for them? “Well, Republicans are worse. They’re actual racists!” I know that’s how you think. I know that’s what they’ve told you, but you ever really stop to think? How do you explain record allow African-American employment in the first three years the Trump administration? See, that’s the kind of thing, to me, that could be … unifying.

Dare I say the word? So the failure of the liberal model is so embarrassing that the current leaders of the Democrat Party and the American left have created an entire alternative universe of explanations. Blaming it on American settlers in the early seventeenth century, some flawed definition of the lack of justice, systemic racism that simply cannot be wiped out.

Mr. Henninger writes, “This is worse than 1968,” for this reason, “because the political system is now engaged in a systemic act of forgetting. Let’s forget that this policy failure has happened or why. Let’s forget, for instance, that the people living in New York’s public housing are overrun with rats, unlit hallways and no heat in the winter” just like it was in 1968. But let’s forget that.

“Let’s forget that many blacks have indeed been left behind — by a well-documented migration since 1990 of black Americans out of northern cities and Los Angeles into the South, where they have gone in search of economic opportunity.” But let’s just forget that a lot of African-Americans have already fled the Democrat Party where it lives.

If they haven’t fled them in the ballot box, they still have fled being governed by them when they can. “Let’s forget, despite a massive [annual] outlay on Medicaid … that black Americans still have a higher incidence of chronic disease.” We’ve spent $593 billion alone in 2018 on Medicaid, which is Medicare for the poor, and “black Americans still have a higher incidence of chronic disease.”

Let’s forget that. Yeah! We can’t… Can’t mention that! No, gotta forget that.

See all the things you have to forget, all of the failures that you have to just ignore and instead, blame the Republicans. Blame Trump — and before Trump, blame George W. Bush, and then blame George H. W. Bush, and then blame Fox News, and then blame Rush Limbaugh, and then blame talk radio. “This new progressive nihilism says the answer to inner-city crime is decriminalization.”

The ultimate “defining deviancy down.” You know that phrase. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, Democrat senator from New York, invented the phrase “defining deviancy down” to acknowledge how America just throws up its hands in defeat. “Okay, we can’t stop that crime, so we’ll stop calling it crime. We can’t stop that kind of criminal behavior, so we’ll just say it isn’t criminal behavior anymore.”

What do you think “defunding the police” is about?

The answer to inner city crime is: Why, let’s get rid of the cops!

If we get rid of the cops there won’t be any arrests and therefore there won’t be any crime. And so we’ll get rid of crime and we’ll have our utopia, and we’ll get rid of all these people that our citizens hate, we’re gonna get rid of the cops. And this is actually happening. It’s going to happen in California, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York.

These idiots are actually serious about this. Yeah, we’ll just decriminalize all this stuff the cops chase people for and therefore there won’t be any more crime. This is how liberals think. But it is nothing more than an acknowledgment of the failure of liberalism and the failure of the Democrat Party to deliver on its panacea.

“The new nihilism minimizes this week’s ideologically driven assaults on private property because it is ‘replaceable.’” Have you heard that? It doesn’t matter, they may be destroying that building but we can rebuild that. They may have torn down that restaurant, but that’s not a big deal, we can rebuild the restaurant, we can replace it. Well, guess what?

“it is well-established that many of 1968’s burned-down neighborhoods,” have not come back, have not been replaced. And people living in New York public housing, rats, unlit hallways, no heat in the winter. “The new nihilism says no matter how many reform police commissioners are appointed or black mayors elected, ‘nothing has changed.’”

How can that be? No matter how many Martin Luther King Boulevards you name, no matter how many African-American police chief or commissioners or mayors you elect, nothing changes. How can that be? And, by the way, is that not a definition of hopeless or hopelessness? For crying out loud, for all of these years African Americans have been told they’ve been frozen out of the power structure, they’ve been denied access to power. Well, not for the longest time. African-Americans are now mayors, they are governors, they are police chiefs, they are police commissioners. And guess what?

The same crimes, the same degree of crime, the same complaints, the same stuff continues to happen, despite every liberal solution and promise being implemented in these blue states by these blue state leaders. How in the world this is not seen for exactly what it is is a testament to the propagandized power of the Drive-By Media. Because, my friends, the Democrat Party is broadcasting, is chronicling, is demonstrating its abject failure to deliver, the failure of its ideas, the failure of its promises every day, and their voters are a testament to it by how angry they are and riping the country apart.

And I would be mad too if I’d given these people 50 years of my money and 50 years of my vote in exchange for a promise of access to power, an end to racism, no more cops harassing me. I’d be livid too. But somehow they have convinced African American voters that their problems somehow magically have become Donald Trump, who’s been president for three years of the 50 plus years these problems have existed. Anyway, I’m a little long in this segment, but it was worth it. I’m sure you will agree.

The Lying About Trump Is Consistent, Constant and Out of Control

RUSH: I have made reference to the amount of lying that has taken place in the media in this country over the last — I guess we have to say four years. We’re into the fourth year of the Trump presidency now. He was elected in 2016, inaugurated 2017, it’s the fourth year, I sometimes go back and forth on three and four. But it may even be longer than that if you count 2016 as a campaign year. The amount of lying that has been engaged in by the Democrat Party and the American media, the Democrats in the media, is now incalculable. It’s safe to say that everything they say is a lie.

The lying about Donald Trump is now out of control. It’s everything. Practically everything being said — I want you to think how hard this is too. Here we have in Donald Trump the most visible, the most accessible, the most constantly in front of cameras and the media president of the United States, and yet the reporting about him is 99, almost 100% lies. Think about how difficult that is.

If you can succeed in lying to the American people, if your lies can prevail about the most public man – I mean, it would be easy to lie about a president who doesn’t appear before the media much, it would be much easier to lie about a George W. Bush, which they did, by the way, or his father, George H. W. Bush. Clinton was in front of the cameras a lot ’cause he loved it, but Obama was — I went back to the archives. Remember the Limbaugh Theorem? I’m sure you remember the term, the Limbaugh Theorem. You’ve probably forgotten what it was.

I developed the Limbaugh Theorem to explain how it is that Obama seemed to never end up being attached to his own policies, to his own agenda. Obama was actually running against the things that he was proposing. It was the most amazing thing. And he was given this cover by, of course, the Drive-By Media, but he was never held accountable for anything because he never left the campaign.

Obama’s whole strategy was to be constantly campaigning against these invisible yet powerful forces that were attempting to deny him and his supporters and his voters the successful implementation of his agenda while he was implementing that agenda, such as Obamacare. So evolved the Limbaugh Theorem.

So here’s Obama, who they didn’t dare lie about because they didn’t want to disappoint him. But they are lying about Donald Trump. I mean, the most recent example is this walk that he took from the White House across Lafayette Park to St. John’s Church. Everything about that is a lie, everything, and yet it was on television. Everybody saw it.

Now, stop and think about this. If you were gonna do this, how difficult this would be as a project to lie all the time about the most public man in the world who says more in public and does more in public than probably the past three presidents combined. Imagine the power you have if you can take somebody as public as Donald Trump and for the rest of the country lie repeatedly about what he is doing, saying and not saying.

There is, in fact, a timely article about this, and it’s the New York Post, it’s by Eddie Scarry, or Scarry, I don’t know how you pronounce it, S-c-a-r-r-y. And the headline is: “The Lying About Donald Trump is Now Completely Out of Control — Anti-Trump liberals (i.e., Democrats and the media) just have to find something — anything — wrong with the president, even if it means making it up. The perpetually not-President Hillary Clinton on Monday shared a side-by-side photo of the White House, one lit up in a rainbow spectrum from 2015, when Barack Obama was in office, and the other appearing almost in pitch black with no lighting. ‘Elections matter,’ tweeted Clinton.”

That picture of the White House with no lights on, you know what the purpose of that picture was? To convey that Trump was hiding, that Trump was a coward, that Trump was scared, that Trump was in the bunker, that Trump was five stories below ground in Washington ’cause he is a scaredy cat. Oh, yeah. Donald Trump still would bluster, he’ll be happy to threaten and call people thugs, but when the going gets tough, Donald Trump runs and hides.

“Former Obama adviser David Axelrod shared the same image of the darkened White House, calling it ‘perfect symbolism,’ because, ‘if ever the country needed the occupant of the White House to shed light, and not heat, now is the time. Sadly, the lights are out.’”

It turns out that the photo was not of the White House at any time Trump has lived in it. The photo that was used as a metaphor for Trump’s cowardice was actually a photo from the Obama years, a photo of the Obama White House.

“So pervasive was that meme on social media that the Associated Press was moved to fact-check and let liberals know that, sorry, the slam dunk on Trump was actually an embarrassing rebound.” That’s a photo from the Obama White House. “People even started saying Trump was ‘hiding in his bunker’ and the lights went out — until a CNN reporter pointed out the main lights always go out at 11 p.m.

“It’s not as if this hasn’t happened before. Recall the images of ‘children in cages’ that were all the rage heading into summer 2018, passed off as demonstrable proof that the Trump administration,” was locking up the children of illegals and separating children from their mommies, separating children from their families and putting children in the cages.

Except the problem always was that the children-in-the-cages photos were from 2014, when who was president? Who? Oh, that’s right! Barack Hussein O. We were separating children from their parents in 2014 because it was the law. So they went and got pictures from 2014 and tried to pass them off as pictures of the Trump administration. The Charlottesville lie is no different than the “hands up, don’t shoot” lie.

Trump never said that neo-Nazis are “fine people.” He never said, “There’s some good people among those neo-Nazis, some good people among those skinheads.” He never said it. Just like Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, never said to the cop, “Don’t shoot, don’t shoot,” and put his hands up. He reached in the cop’s car, tried to grab the gun. He never did surrender.

You know, based on the TV coverage, you would think that Trump has been insulting George Floyd. You would think that Trump maybe had been spitting on the memory of George Floyd. In reality, Trump has been exceedingly sensitive and respectful to Floyd’s memory. He called his death a tragedy, should have never happened.

He added that the Floyd incident filled Americans all over the country with horror, anger, and grief. “But we can’t report that because Trump doesn’t have empathy, you see. We’re not allowed. Trump is not human. We cannot do anything that will humanize Trump. We cannot report that Trump has anything approaching empathy.” So they lie about it.

It’s just everything they report about Donald Trump is a lie, and it’s kind of amazing they get away with it given that he is the most public — the most constantly on camera and behind microphones — president we’ve ever had. Last week, two days after the death of George Floyd, Trump ordered the FBI and the Justice Department to conduct an expedited investigation into the matter. The press ignores that.

They suggest that Trump has refused to look into it. They suggest that Trump doesn’t care. They suggest that Trump knows he’s responsible for it and so he’s trying to sweep it under the rug. (sniveling) “Trump’s feeling pangs of guilt! He knows that his administration is the reason that happened, Minneapolis; that’s why he’s hiding in the bunker five stories underground ’cause he’s a coward and he knows he’s responsible.”

This is the garbage that is being reported. “The looting, the destruction, the violence all over the place? Minneapolis, Atlanta, Louisville, Washington, New York City? Yep, all Trump’s fault. It’s Trump’s fault because he didn’t care enough about George Floyd. Trump’s fault because he tried to sweep it under the rug. Trump’s fault because he knows his administration has created all of this hate!”

That’s essentially the sum total of the purpose here of all of these lies, is to try to convey the impression that Trump’s hatred, Trump’s persona, the fact that Trump won has created this legitimate hate; that the anger and the looting, the rioting, the hatred, it’s all legitimate because Trump is so hated and reviled. And so, folks, never forget what this is about and has always been about.

It’s about separating you Trump supporters from Trump. It’s about driving a wedge between the base and Trump. That’s what this is. They want you to conclude that maybe electing Trump was a mistake; that electing Trump, maybe it is responsible for all this. “Maybe Trump is so incompetent — maybe is such a boob, maybe so mean, maybe so whatever he is — maybe this stuff isn’t gonna stop until we get rid of Trump.

“Maybe the country’s never gonna be at peace again as long as Trump’s president. Maybe they’re right.” That’s what they want you to start thinking. That’s what they want you to maybe consider. That’s what they want you to ultimately conclude. So they want you to blame yourself, essentially: “You elected Trump, and that’s caused all of this.

“And it’s legitimate, because Trump is such a bad guy, ’cause Trump is so unqualified, ’cause Trump’s so mean, Trump’s so whatever he is, that all of this — from the virus to the lockdown of 40 million people losing their jobs and livelihoods to the country’s economy crashing to now the wanton destruction of American city — is all totally understandable. It’s all legit.

“I mean, it all makes perfect sense the country hates Donald Trump. A vast majority of Americans realize what a mistake it was. A vast majority have known for a long time. But, you Trump voters, you gotta get with it now. You gotta get up to speed. You gotta understand that you guys are responsible for this and you have to renounce him.”

That’s the objective, and they’re not gonna stop — and I’m gonna just tell you this: If we lose in November, everything we knew and believed in our entire lives is gonna be in flames, not just Manhattan and not just Minnesota, not just Los Angeles. They are telegraphing for us what this country is gonna be if they win. Look at what is happening in America where Democrats are in power.

The messes are not getting cleaned up, are they? The violence is not being quelled, is it? It’s not being stopped. The economy is not rebounding. It’s continually shut down. They are telling you what your country’s gonna be if they win. They’re showing you as well as telling you. Audio sound bite number 14.

To show you the evidence, more evidence of how everything about Trump in the media is a lie. Mark Esper, secretary of defense, this morning at the Pentagon spoke about the protests around the country, and he blows up all the fake news that you’ve heard over the past two days.

ESPER: The option to use active-duty forces in a law enforcement role should only be used as a matter of last resort, and only in the most urgent and dire of situations. We are not in one of those situations now. I do not support invoking the Insurrection Act.

RUSH: Okay, but we’ve been told that Trump wants to do it. He’s gonna send the military out there if he has to, and they’ve all been talking, “Trump’s a dictator! He’s gonna turn into a banana republic guy,” and he’s secretary of defense is saying, “No, no, no, no. It’s not being considered. We’re not gonna do it.” All morning they have saying the secretary of defense was unaware that he was gonna be walking to the church when Trump gragged him and said, “Hey, let’s go take a walk.”

They said the secretary of defense had no idea where he was going.

ESPER: I want to state very clearly for all to hear my account of what happened that Monday afternoon. I did know that following the president’s remarks on Monday evening that many of us were going to join Trump and review the damage in Lafayette Park and at St. John’s Episcopal Church.

RUSH: No, no, no, no, no, you’re wrong! The media’s been saying. “You didn’t know where you were going! You were livid when you found out! You didn’t know he was gonna be carrying a Bible and that you were embarrassed, Secretary Esper. You wouldn’t have gone if you had known. You didn’t know!”

This is the media reporting, “He had no idea where he was going! Trump fooled to him. Trump lied to him. Trump commandeered him for credibility.” He said, “No, we all knew where we were headed. We all agreed with it. We all wanted to go — and, by the way, there was no tear gas.” You know, this has been an official statement out of the Park Police for two days, and the media is still reporting the lie that tear gas was used on peaceful protesters.

ESPER: I also want to address a few other matters that have been raised about that evening. National Guard forces did not fire rubber bullets or tear gas into the crowd as reported.

RUSH: “[D]id not fire rubber bullets or tear gas into the crowd….” He’s only about the millionth federal official to point it out in two days, and still the lying on news networks about it continues.

RUSH: Van Jones. Stand by audio sound bite number 21. I have a story here, folks. This is from John Solomon’s Just the News, and it is about recent polling data, and the upshot of the story is “Trump Voters Far More Enthusiastic than Biden Supporters,” according to a poll. Folks, this is crucially important. I want to, if I may, go back to the first half hour of the program.

The lying about Trump is consistent, constant, and it’s over the top. It’s out of control. And the reason for it is the same reason they started the Trump-Russia collusion investigation and all of that. In order for them to beat Trump, they have to destroy the relationship between you — Trump’s base voters — and Trump. They must drive a wedge. They’ve got to drive you out of the Trump orbit.

The way they are doing it, the way they have been doing it is essentially making things so unacceptable, so rotten in this country that you will eventually come to the conclusion, “It’s all gone wrong because Trump won. If Trump hadn’t been elected, we wouldn’t be experiencing any of this!” They want you to realize that you made a mistake electing him. “You are the reason for all of this misery and loathing and economic squalor.

“The reason it’s happening is that the people of this country hate Trump. They can’t stand Trump! They’re in a bad mood. No wonder they’re rioting; it’s legitimate. No wonder they’re protesting; it’s legitimate. They hate Trump because Trump is a bad guy. Trump’s scum. Trump’s destroyed this, he’s destroyed that,” and they need you to fall in with this.

They are doing everything they can to ladle you with guilt, to have you come to the conclusion that you are partially responsible because you elected Trump and (sniveling), “Trump is so unqualified, Trump is so mean, he’s so dangerous,” whatever it is. And that all of this behavior — from the rioting to the looting to destruction of private property to the loss of 40 million jobs, everything going wrong — is because of Trump.

“Trump is responsible because otherwise normal and reasonable people are now burning down buildings, and they’re destroying businesses, including their own, and they are killing people, and they are injuring people. It’s all because Trump is driving people crazy — and it’s legitimate that Trump is driving people crazy because everybody hates Trump — and you people that elected him, you’re responsible.”

They need you to abandon him. So this story comes out, “Trump Voters Far More Enthusiastic than Biden Supporters,” and this is exactly why they are implementing the strategy they are implementing. “Likely Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden faces a daunting enthusiasm gap compared to President Trump, according to the latest Just the News Daily Poll with Scott Rasmussen.

“‘Wow! 76% of Trump voters are enthusiastic about their candidate compared to just 49% of Biden voters,’” and I have to tell you I don’t think the enthusiasm pour Biden is that high. I don’t think there’s much enthusiasm for Biden per se, period. I think the enthusiasm on the left is anti-Trump. I don’t care who the Democrat nominee would be; the enthusiasm would probably be the same.

I mean, look at how many Democrats ran. You had a bunch of African-American women. You had some white guys in there. You had a very diverse group. None of them — none of them — got even close. Joe Biden — who has never won anything besides his Senate seat, who has bombed out royally every time he has sought the Democrat presidential nomination.

The guy is… Self-contained, you look at his career; he’s literally a joke, and now he doesn’t know where he is. He’s got some mental issue. And this gets the nomination? There can’t be any enthusiasm for him; he doesn’t inspire enthusiasm. He doesn’t inspire excitement.

The enthusiasm, to whatever extent there is any, is all rooted in these people’s hatred of Donald Trump. But I’m gonna tell you, they’re gonna look at this. They’re gonna see this poll and they’re gonna think they failing. They’re gonna get mad. “What else do we have to do?” They’re hoping that your enthusiasm for Trump will vanish.

Then they see 76% still enthusiastic?

It’s because they’ve never known who you are. They’ve never really understood why you love and support Trump and why you’re with him thick or thin. They haven’t the slightest idea, and that’s why they’re never gonna be able to bust you up. But I’m telling you they’re not gonna stop trying — and it’s gonna take a resolve of steel.

You people, you’re gonna need steel spines, you’re gonna need cold, blue steel throughout your body to withstand what they’re gonna throw at you from now to the end of this year toward the election. They’re gonna throw everything at you. They’re gonna try to do everything they can to make you think every problem in this country is because people legitimately hate Donald Trump. So there isn’t any public act of criminal intent, criminal behavior, there is no criminality that can be called criminality because it’s all legitimate and justified because Trump is such a reprobate.

The Democrats, 41% see Biden as the lesser of two evils. He says, “It’s important to remember that President Trump won in 2016 largely because he was seen by many as the lesser of two evils. Exit polls showed that about 10% of all voters cast their ballot for Trump despite believing he was unqualified for the job.”

There is no enthusiasm for Biden. The enthusiasm for Trump is 76%? That’s incredible, given the news coverage the past four years. So here is Van Jones last night, CNN, Erin Burnett Sideways. Question: “I know you spent a lot of time talking to people in crucial swing states, Jones, like Pennsylvania, a state that Trump needs to win. What do you think’s happening there, places like that? Because it’s at the state level that this all really matters.”

JONES: I am always shocked by the tale of two countries when I talk to my friends on the right. For instance, everyone that I know on the left is outraged by the president’s use of military force inside the U.S. borders. Don’t assume that everyone feels the same way about it. On the right people have been — they’ve swung very hard. At first they just were so shocked by this murder, this killing. But as the protests have gotten more disrupted or disruptive, they have swung back. When President Trump moved, as he did yesterday, there were people who felt comforted by that in the red parts of America. And so that’s something that makes this thing very, very hard to predict.

RUSH: He’s warning them. He’s trying to warn them: Do not think that because you hate Trump, everybody does. Do not think you’re succeeding in busting up the Trump base. You’re not succeeding. That was Van Jones. And he does sound reasonable, especially as a communist amongst a bunch of leftists on CNN.

But he’s warning them, he said, “Look, you think -” See, the Democrats for four years have believed they’ve won the battle. They thought they won Trump-Russia collusion. They thought they won the Ukraine impeachment. They think they’re winning all these things. Despite the fact that they’re not, they think they are.

And they think these riots and these protests that people are blaming Trump for it, and people aren’t. Now, what he was also saying here, when Trump moved as he did yesterday — he’s talking about the trip to the church. When Trump went to the church, held up that Bible, Van Jones is telling these people, do not think that red America didn’t like that. They loved that.

Like I told you yesterday, that was a comforting, strengthening act of great resolve that Trump engaged in. They’re out there trying to portray it as a violation of church and state, it was unconstitutional, he used tear gas and rubber bullets on protesters. I mean, they’re lying about everything and more. And it isn’t working out. It may be affecting public opinion, job approval and this kind of thing, but it is not destroying the relationship that Trump has with his base.

RUSH: So CNN just did a report. Okay. So they say there wasn’t any tear gas used? Okay. But they used smoke bombs, and those smoke bombs, they make you cry, and so if there were tears, then you may as well have used tear gas. Everybody’s denying tear gas was used, but CNN’s insistent.

RUSH: Yeah, that was the news out of Minnesota. All four cops now face charges, and the cop with the knee on the throat of George Floyd is up to second-degree murder from third-degree murder. “Ex-Joint Chiefs Chairman Condemns Trump’s Response to Protests.” By the way, Trump is out there…

You know, it was quieter last night on the streets for the most part. There were pockets of continuing looting and fires and burning and unrest, but overall it was quieter last night, and President Trump is out there saying that’s because we dominated the streets — and so the media is livid.

The media is livid that Trump is taking credit for it. The media wants you to believe that it was quieter last night because the rioters and the looters are somehow good people who wanted to stand down for a night to show their solidarity with people and to say that we can get along. They just make it up! They don’t know why it was quieter last night.

They just make this rotgut up. Trump says it was because of the increased presence of law and order, that we dominated the streets. Now, this next story is a classic example of one of the points that I made early in the program. This is a story how they used to try to drive a wedge between you and Trump.

This is a story designed to make you think that you’re isolated, that you and you alone support Trump, that all the smart people and all the reasonable people are abandoning Trump. “Ex-Joint Chiefs Chairman Condemns Trump’s Response to Protesters.” Oh, yeah. “Mike Mullen, the former chairman of the [“Chiefs Joints of Staff”], condemned the use of tear gas on peaceful protesters in Washington, D.C.’s Lafayette Park Monday…

“‘Whatever Trump’s goal in conducting his visit, he laid bare his disdain for the rights of peaceful protest in this country, gave succor to the leaders of other countries who take comfort in our domestic strife, and risked further politicizing the men and women of our armed forces,’ Mullen wrote in a column for The Atlantic.”

So you’re supposed to say, “Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Trump lost one of his former chairmen of the ‘chief joints’! Oh, my God!” No, folks. This guy’s a lifelong liberal Democrat. Mike Mullen is part of the deep state military condemning Trump and so forth. He’s former chair of the “Chief Joints of Staff,” and he’s wrong about the tear gas. He’s writing under a false premise.

Anyway, the point of the story is you’re supposed to say, “Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Trump’s losing a chairman of the ‘joints’! Oh, my God. Oh, my God. These are serious people. These are military people. These are the best! Oh, my God!” No. You’re dealing with politicized generals. You got warrior generals, and you got political generals, and this guy has never been a Trump supporter.

They want you to believe, “He was a Trump supporter! He was in the military. He was commander-in-chief and so forth — he supports the commander-in-chief,” and they want you to think that he has decided to fall out because Trump’s such a reprobate. He’s never has been a supporter of Trump.
