Mistakes You’re Making with Antibacterial Wipes

Not Reading Directions

Some wipes, like the kind made with benzalkonium chloride, are only approved to kill bacteria. They might not work as well on viruses. Wipes with “disinfectant” on the label should kill bacteria, viruses, and mold. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) keeps a list of approved disinfectants on its website. Check the product’s label for the EPA registration number.

Drying Surfaces Too Fast

They should stay visibly wet for a little while. The amount of time depends on the product’s ingredients and what germs you’re trying to kill. It could be anywhere from 15 seconds to 10 minutes. Read the label for directions. The EPA website will also tell you. You can search by the product’s registration number to find out more.

Wiping Your Hands

Some antibacterial wipes are OK for your hands. But don’t use disinfectant wipes. You could have an allergic reaction. It might make your skin red, itchy, and swollen. That’s called contact dermatitis. Harsh chemicals could cause even more problems on children’s hands.

Not Cleaning First

Most wipes can do both. But lots of dirt and grime can make it hard for disinfectants to do their job. That’s why you should always clean a really dirty surface first. You can do that with soapy water or another household cleaner.

photo of carpet

Using Them On Soft Surfaces

Wipes aren’t made for stuff like carpet or couch fabric. One reason is they suck up moisture from the wipe. That means they don’t stay wet long enough for the chemicals to work. Wipes work better on hard, nonporous things like stainless steel and plastic. That’s where germs, like the virus that causes COVID-19, tend to stick around the longest.

Cleaning Toys

Kids put a lot of things in their mouth. That’s why you shouldn’t clean their toys with disinfectant or antibacterial wipes. Use mild soapy water instead. It might be OK to put some toys in the dishwasher.

Not Using Enough

The wipe loses moisture the more you use it. You could spread germs from one surface to another if it gets too dry. Experts aren’t sure how much you can disinfect with one wipe. Studies show they may work best on 1-2 square feet if the surface stays wet long enough. So it’s probably OK to disinfect a couple of doorknobs or light switches with the same wipe.

photo of bowl of apples

Cleaning Fruits and Veggies

A quick swipe over your apple may seem harmless. But you should never use cleaning products on your food. That includes wipes, soap, or a bleach mixture. Instead, wash your fruits and vegetables under running water. You can use a clean produce brush for an extra scrub. Dry with a clean cloth or paper towel when you’re done.

photo of flushing wipe down toilet

Flushing Them Down the Toilet

Wipes should go in the trash. The same goes for paper towels. They can clog your pipes or cause a sewage backup down the line. That’s because wipes — even “flushable” ones — don’t break up in water the way toilet tissue does. Overflows aren’t good for human health or the environment. Sewer spills can end up in lakes, rivers, or oceans.

photo of wiping phone

Using Them to Clean Your Phone

It might be OK to use disinfectant wipes on your smartphone. You can check with the company that makes your phone to be sure. But you shouldn’t do it too often. That could damage the fingerprint-resistant coating. You may want to get a wipeable cover to protect the screen. If you do use wipes on your phone, try to not get moisture near any opening.  Don’t use anything with bleach.

photo of temperature reading in car

Leaving Them in Hot Places

Wipes should be stored at room temperature. That’s about 70 F. It’s probably OK to keep a pack in your car if it’s cool outside. But they might dry out if you let them bake in the summer heat

Using Them on Pets or Their Dishes

Animals can lick the chemicals on their bowls or fur. Only use shampoos or wipes made for grooming. Call your vet right away if your pet chews on a wipe and then throws up or has diarrhea. If you can’t reach your vet, you can call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at 888-426-4435.

 Sanitizing Too Much

It’s important to disinfect surfaces that are touched a lot if someone is sick. But you don’t need to run wipes over everything in your house. Experts think the overuse of antimicrobial chemicals might kill good bacteria or lead to “superbugs.” Those are strong germs that are hard to kill.

photo of used wipe

 Using Old Wipes

Disposable wipes don’t typically expire. Some companies say their wipes will disinfect forever. But others say you should toss wipes a year or two after they’re made. While chemicals can break down over time, it’s more likely that your wipes will dry out. They can’t kill germs without moisture. The manufacturing date is on the label. Look for a string of letters and numbers: “MR20106” means the wipes were made on the 106th day of 2020.

Poll of African-American Views on Cops Debunks Myths

RUSH: Okay. I want you all to listen to this, and particularly those of you in the audience who are African-American. It struck me when I ran across the story. The story is actually… I found it at Power Line, the great blog. It was written by Paul Mirengoff in this case, but what he’s done, is he found a couple of polls of black people and has analyzed them and reported on them.

It struck me that I don’t see polling data where the respondents are exclusively African-American, and that kind of surprised me. It’s one of these realizations that, “Wow, I’ve never seen that.” Yet you think it happens all the time because what happens is that African-Americans just get lumped in with the Democrat Party because African-Americans vote 93, 95% on average every presidential election for the Democrat candidate.

So it’s assumed that blacks believe whatever Democrats believe, and then — I know I’ve heard it a number of times; so have you — usually a white liberal will get in your face. “You don’t even know what it’s like! You don’t even know what it’s like to be African-American. Go talk to them! They don’t think they’re gonna see their 21st birthday. They think cops are gonna shoot ’em for a bad taillight or something.”

So you end up believing that the African-American population really is that… (sigh) Their outlook is that bleak. People just believe it. You’ll be sad about it, but you accept it. Well, apparently none of that is true because somebody actually has gone out and taken a poll exclusively with black respondents. Now, the title of Mirengoff’s blog post here is, “What Do Blacks Say About the Police?”

A couple pull quotes from the piece: “[B]ut for African-Americans, Bernie Sanders probably would be the Democratic nominee for president. African-American voters saved Joe Biden’s campaign, even though, as some of his opponents liked to point out, he collaborated with Dixiecrats, opposed school busing, and led the charge for stiff sentencing of drug offenders.

“Michael Javen Fortner, author of Black Silent Majority: The Rockefeller Drug Laws and the Politics of Punishment focuses here on black attitudes about the police. Do blacks in America really believe … that ‘they can be killed anywhere at any time by anyone, but especially by [cops]’? Fortner argues that they don’t” believe this.

“When asked, ‘How satisfied are you…’”? Remember, this is a poll of black respondents. “When asked, ‘How satisfied are you with the job your local police department does,’ 21% said ‘very satisfied,’ 51% said somewhat satisfied, 12% said somewhat dissatisfied, and only 5% said that they were ‘very’ dissatisfied. These results do not suggest a complete endorsement of contemporary policing, as many blacks report negative interactions.

“Yet nearly [75%] of surveyed African-Americans report themselves satisfied with their local police departments.” What? Who would believe that? I mean, isn’t virtually everything happening here under the guise of social justice, isn’t it happening because we’re told that African-Americans…? We gotta defund the police departments because African-Americans think that police departments exist only to harm them.

We’re told this. We don’t dare argue it or refute it. “The Washington, D.C. area has a large number of black immigrants from Africa.” Paul Mirengoff writing here. “My impression (and it’s only an impression) is that these immigrants make up a considerable percentage of people who care for the elderly in this area, and are well represented among local taxi drivers.

“I gather they are well represented in certain other job categories too, but it is in these capacities that I encounter them. Do blacks from Africa view America as a racist nation? Not likely. They wouldn’t have come here if they did. My impression (and again, it’s only that) is that these immigrants find America a relatively congenial place.

“They appreciate not just the economic opportunities, but also the presence of order and the absence of rampant corruption. I might be wrong,” Mr. Mirengoff writes, “but I don’t sense that they detest the police or that they want America to be radically transformed.” These are African immigrants in Washington that he’s talking about here.

“But then,” he says, “I doubt that many native African-Americans want this either. Keep in mind that, but for African-Americans, Bernie Sanders probably would be the Democratic nominee,” then he writes about, “Michael Javen Fortner, author of Black Silent Majority, and black attitudes toward the cops. He says This: “‘Polling data suggest that most African-Americans do not share [the] bleak view of their experiences’” that you think they do.

“‘In a 2019 Pew survey, 44% of blacks reported being “unfairly stopped by police” because of their race; 54% said, “No, has not happened to me.” In a Monmouth poll taken after Floyd’s death, 44% of African-Americans reported that they or an immediate family member felt “harassed by police,” but a majority did not share this experience.

“‘When asked, “How satisfied are you with the job your local police department does,”‘” just to repeat, this is Pew and Monmouth, “‘21% said “very satisfied,” 51% said somewhat satisfied…” Folks, that’s a total of 75% somewhat satisfied with the job of local police departments, African-Americans, in 2019. Things could have changed, obviously, but I don’t think that dramatically.

“‘These results do not suggest a complete endorsement of contemporary policing… Yet nearly three-quarters of surveyed African-Americans report themselves satisfied with their local police departments,’” and then it says, “These results shouldn’t come as a surprise. But polling data present at least one counter-intuitive result:

“‘A 2015 Gallup poll found that black adults who believed police treated black people unfairly were also more likely to desire a larger police presence in their local area than those who thought police treated black people fairly.’” That is stunning. Now, admittedly, it’s 2015. But to me, it doesn’t matter. This runs counter to everything we’ve been told.

Again, it’s a survey — two surveys — of exclusively black respondents. “[B]lack adults who” think the cops treat them unfairly “were also more likely to desire a larger police presence…” Stop and think about. You know, the color of one’s skin doesn’t change one’s humanity, doesn’t change the desire you have for your kids to do well, to want a good education. It doesn’t mean anything.

Why would the color of your skin somehow make you not want a police department where you live? It makes no sense. And yet this is what we’re being asked to believe, that a majority of African-Americans do not want police departments. And this effort to defund police departments in Democrat cities and states is being run in the name of African-Americans, and it isn’t true. But because there’s never any polling data exclusively of black Americans there’s never any refutation of it.

Here’s the conclusion from Mr. Fortner, who did the poll and analyzed it: “‘Elite institutions have committed themselves to a theory, program, and performance increasingly detached from the aspirations, worldviews, and everyday concerns of millions of blacks. Activists have secured pledges to “defund” or “dismantle” police departments, but black Americans haven’t received concrete, alternative public-safety plans to curb violence.’”

In other words, get rid of the cops; it doesn’t make things safer. How are you gonna do that? “‘Most African-Americans clearly desire police reform over abolition. … Any “antiracist” movement that disregards how working and middle-class African-Americans define and pursue the good life is not worth its name.’” Boy, is that ever right. The idea that just because of skin color, certain people don’t pursue, don’t want to pursue, don’t think it’s possible to achieve the quote-unquote “good life”?

Winning Strategy: Trump Must Stand Against America’s Overthrow

RUSH: “President Trump Can Win In 2020 By Doing This 1 Thing.” It is an opinion piece written by a man named Peter Heck. Let me give you a couple pull quotes from his piece here.

“The president’s speech at Mount Rushmore convinced me. After seeing it, despite all of his shortcomings, I honestly think there is one thing that President Trump could do that would guarantee his re-election. One thing that would completely change the narrative of a frenzied and overmatched provocateur fiddling while his country burns.”What’s that one thing? “Focus like a laser on being the only thing standing between America and the leftist revolution,” attempting to overthrow it. “Forget insulting Joe Biden over his lack of mental fitness. People can see for themselves and don’t like elder abuse.
Forget defensively chiding and reacting to those who criticize the country’s COVID response.”

We don’t need to hear about success with ventilators and PPP and all of this stuff. We’ve been there, done that. We know we’ve done a good job. Stop being defensive about criticism of the COVID-19 response.

“Forget bragging about the economy pre-coronavirus. That was then.” Yep. You can talk about it and how you’re gonna rebuild and get it back, but all this stuff is distracting, and all of this stuff can come off as petty. Insulting Biden over the fact he can’t talk, getting defensive about ventilators and masks and stuff.

“What the majority of people are about is their ability to live safe, undisturbed, and profitable lives. They like this country and want the stability and security it has always afforded them.”

That is it, in a nutshell. That is what Donald Trump must say he represents. He cannot assume that people know that. He cannot assume that people believe that. He cannot assume that people remember what Make America Great Again was all about in 2016. He has got to focus like a laser that his objective is to stay between the mob revolution and the people trying to save the country. He is the only thing that can do it. And that’s not untrue.

Name another politician out there who’s willing to stand side by side with him on this? I mean, there may be some. I’m not trying to insult anyone. Jim Jordan certainly would, Ratcliffe, Louie Gohmert. There’s all kinds of ’em. But in terms of the Republican elected class, it’s few and far between. But that’s okay, because this is the presidency and that campaign that we’re talking about, and he’s the one running. And he has got to make it clear.

He has established the theme in two speeches over the weekend at Mount Rushmore and the White House speech on Saturday. Both of those speeches should form the basis of the campaign, his reasons, his purpose, his agenda. Because, as I said earlier in this program, to profound agreement, this country is not Twitter. And politicians and marketing managers, PR people all over this country are making a huge mistake assuming that Twitter represents the majority of thinking, the majority of people in this country. It does not.

This country is not a majority country of hate and bigotry and all of that. Half of what’s on Twitter isn’t real anyway. Half or more of what’s on Twitter is bots. They’re not even real people. Twitter is being used to corrupt and pollute the minds of the innocent and people that don’t pay much attention to the news anyway. But Twitter is not America.

Let the Democrat Party continue to believe that it is. Let the Democrat Party operate on the basis that this country is Twitter, and they will go down the tubes because this country is not Twitter. And what I mean by that is, Twitter is used by the media as a stand in for public opinion because the media is a bunch of jealous, lazy practitioners, and so Twitter is easy to use instead of actually going out and talking to people, and it’s a stand-in for national public opinion. And it’s serving a purpose for us. It is distorting the worldview of the Democrat Party.

I’m convinced that one of the reasons the Democrat Party thinks they’re in the majority and they think that hating America is the way to go is because they believe that Twitter is America. I don’t believe a majority of people in this country hate it. I don’t believe a majority of people in this country dislike it. I don’t believe a majority of people in this country want it overthrown. I don’t believe a majority of people in this country think Black Lives Matter is the answer or Antifa. In fact, it’s not even a matter of thinking it. I know it.

But the Democrats, they may think the exact opposite. They may literally believe that Black Lives Matter is the future, because most Americans agree with them and support them because the Democrats believe the drivel and the garbage that they see on Twitter. And, furthermore, they campaign on it. They seek more of it.

All the president has to do is make the 2020 election about preserving the American way of life, maintaining the American founding because the real majority of our people want the ability to live safe, undisturbed, profitable, meaning opportunity to make a good living. That’s what they want, that has been the promise of America. They like the country. They want the stability and security it has always afforded them. They want police forces.

Does the Democrat Party really believe that a majority of Americans want to disband the cops? Does the Democrat Party really believe that a majority of Americans wants to defund the police? Does the Democrat Party really believe that a majority of people agree with Bill de Blasio on things? Does a majority of the American people actually agree with Lori “Lightweight,” the mayor of Chicago, on things? I will guarantee you a majority of Americans does not agree with Bill de Blasio.

There are more people buying guns today than ever before. Black Lives Matter, the Democrat Party have done a better job than even the NRA. And you know why? Because the Democrats are getting rid of the cops. And people are realizing they’re gonna have to defend themselves if they’re gonna walk at night in their neighborhoods or get in their cars and drive somewhere, they’re going to have to be able to self-defend.

If a majority of the American people agreed with the Democrats and Bill de Blasio, they’d be turning their guns in ’cause they would believe that we don’t need police forces and the Democrats are gonna make everybody safe. And the Democrats are gonna make everybody feel security and they’re gonna do it with their new friends, Black Lives Matter.

Well, there is no way a majority of Americans is ever gonna think that no matter what Twitter says. The president could run ads demonstrating the lawlessness these Democrat controlled cities and states that’s ruining lives, ruining communities, ruining cities, and continue to point out that the reasons and the ruination is happening in Democrat-controlled places, places the Democrats have controlled for years.

The Democrats have been promising their utopia in these places. They’ve been promising their constituents they’re gonna fix all the problems, the complaints they have. And yet the complaints never end, and they are the same. The Democrats don’t fix anything. Not capable of it.

Run video, Black Lives Matter screaming the N-word in the face of black cops. Run video of well-fed, white, college-graduate women screaming their lungs out at cops and not even knowing why. Run video showing the insanity. By doing that, Trump will resonate with people that he’s the same guy that ran in 2016 and still intends to Make America Great and preserve the American way of life.

Marxists Are Dead Serious About Defunding the Police

RUSH: Folks, I gotta tell you, the level of incompetence at some of the formerly most trustworthy, reliable institutions is one of the greatest elements of this country’s — not destruction. You used to be able to count on things. There used to be institutions that were reliable, you trusted the people in them, you trusted when they came out and said something, especially if they were focused on public safety.

And now that trust just isn’t there. And the answer, the reason why is not that complicated. It is liberal political corruption of these institutions that has led to all this. Now you got people questioning what they hear about anything. For example, the left is serious about defunding the police departments. But yet there’s a poll out that shows most people don’t think that’s what they really mean. They do mean it.

Clearwater, Florida, they’re gonna get rid of the cops and they’re gonna replace cops with social workers. Clearwater, Florida. Or is it St. Pete? I’ll find it in a minute. But people don’t believe that the left is serious about defunding the cops. This is a Monmouth University poll, found only 18% of Americans believe the left and these Democrat cities and states and who say defund the police actually means defund the police.

Well, they are terribly mistaken. The anti-police are not shy about it. Black Lives Matter says on its website it wants to defund the police to invest in communities. They’re dead serious about defunding the police and replacing the police with themselves, social workers or what have you.

Look at this. “Seattle cutting the police budget by half.” Seattle city council now supports defunding the Seattle police department by 50% and sending that money to the community, whatever that is. That’s community organizer, Black Lives Matter is gonna get the money. It includes free housing and other economic benefits to minorities, which is already happening.

Let me find this real quick. It is St. Petersburg. Okay. St. Petersburg say they’re going to defund or close the cops and replace them with social workers. Yeah. Here it is. And we’ve talked about this. We’ve talked about how many cities and towns are planning to send social workers to respond to nonviolent emergency calls instead of the cops.

And I have told you, I have warned everybody that this is a way for the left to infiltrate normally conservative police departments with progressives, social workers, left-wing Birkenstock sandal wearing, longhaired, maggot-infested no underarm deodorant, little socialist day care workers running into your house pretending to be cops. I mean, who’s more progressive than social workers?

Anyhow, even St. Petersburg, Florida, is gonna do it. Never mind it means social workers are gonna have to deal with drug addicts and the mentally ill. And believe me, those kinds of people can become violent without warning at any time. This is gonna lead to the death of social workers. It’s gonna lead to massive lawsuits against cities and towns.

Here’s the Tampa Bay Times reporting on it: “Police in St. Petersburg to step back from nonviolent emergency calls — Soon, social workers will respond to certain nonviolent calls, not cops. Social workers will respond to calls in St. Petersburg about people who are intoxicated or have overdosed, people who are in mental health crises or are suicidal, homelessness, neighbor disputes and disorderly kids or truants. The social workers will be in regular clothes and will not be armed.”

Well, I don’t know, this is gonna be fun to watch. Oh, of course they’re gonna get a salary increase after defunding the cops. (interruption) Well, this is the thing. Mr. Snerdley, the Official Program Observer, just asked me how long do I think this experiment is going to last. And by “experiment,” do you mean the left-wing Democrat Party takeover of our culture? (interruption) Oh. You mean the experiment, the specific experiment of social workers taking over the role of cops, how long is that gonna last?

I have no idea. Obviously you think it’s not gonna last very long. (interruption) If social workers get killed in this mess, if that happens, who do you think is going to get blamed for it? (interruption) You think the social worker will get blamed for not doing a good job? So St. Petersburg is getting rid of the cops, the cops are not gonna deal with this, they’re gonna deal with the supposed violent stuff.

The social workers get to deal with mental insanity, drug addiction, alcoholism, all the other stuff, you know, family disputes, beheadings in the home, whatever happens out there, and they’re unarmed. If social workers get killed, you think they’re gonna get blamed for it? (interruption) Well, we’ll see.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: By the way, you remember all the social workers that ran into the World Trade Center on 9/11, right? And the Pentagon. Nah, just being a little snarky.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here is Leslie in Munster, Indiana. Great to have you on the program. Hello.

CALLER: Hi. It’s an honor to talk to you, Rush, and God bless you.

RUSH: Thank you.

CALLER: I will make it really quick and succinct. Two things. One: If Barr doesn’t want to criminalize politics and Durham doesn’t want to be viewed as political, I believe it’s time for a special prosecutor. My question is: How do we get one?

RUSH: Well, I don’t want to throw cold water, but if you go special prosecutor, you’re throwing away everything Durham’s done and starting fresh and you won’t get a result until 2024.

CALLER: Wouldn’t the special prosecutor be able to have privy to all of what Durham has done?

RUSH: No. He’d have to start from scratch. A special prosecutor would have to start from scratch, his own investigation.

CALLER: Too bad. The second thing —

RUSH: Anyway, even if a special prosecutor could start from where Durham currently is, you bring somebody new into this that doesn’t know what Durham…? Ohhh, no. That would kill it.

CALLER: Ugh! Frustrating, and it just makes you angry. But here’s my second: How do you feel about the Dems with their defunding the police? I mean, eventually, if they get enough power, they’ll use the military against Americans to keep them in line, and then it’s, “Welcome to Hong Kong.”

RUSH: Well, you mean if they win the presidency and end up running the federal government?

CALLER: Exactly.

RUSH: Ah.

CALLER: Then all the —

RUSH: You know what? I’ll tell you something. Normally I would say, “Nah.” With these people and who they have become and their quest for power being what it is, you can’t rule out anything like that that they would do with their power. Folks, they’re not interested in debate, and they’re interested in persuading you to have you agree with them. They’re not interested in having to work at making you agree.

They’re gonna force you — and if you don’t agree, you’re gonna be sent somewhere until you do. You’re gonna be intimidated. You’re gonna be relegated somewhere. This is Marxism with a capital M, and they don’t have time for people who don’t agree with them, whereas you may be the kind of person that you believe what you believe and you want a lot of people to agree.

So you come up with ways to try to persuade them, and you enjoy doing it. Pfft! That’s not the left. There is no persuasion. There’s what they believe and nothing else — and if you don’t subscribe to it, you’re an enemy of the state. You’re an enemy of the regime. They’re not gonna take the time to persuade you, largely because they can’t. They are a minority of the country.

Black Lives Matter and all of these other offshoot organizations and the Democrat Party are pursuing minority rule, on the basis that it’s unfair that they are the minority. (summarized) “It’s unfair that white supremacists are still the majority, and so we’re gonna overthrow that. We’re gonna just not gonna accept it anymore, and we’re gonna go for minority rule — and if we have to overthrow the Constitution to do it?

“If we have to overthrow the entire premise of democracy, then we will do it. There is no debate, there is no persuasion, there is no getting together and convincing people of the right way to do things. There’s simple their way, their opinion, and you’d better agree with it or else. We’re looking at it. If you’ve often wondered what Marxism is…

If you’ve heard the term and you don’t even know what that is. “Karl Marx? Groucho Marx? What is it?” If you’re wondering what it is, you’re looking at it right now with the mask off and no social distancing. Take a look at Seattle and that stupid CHAZ/CHOP zone. Take a look at any of these places run by liberal Democrats, states and cities. Take a look at the looting.

Take a look at the property destruction. Take a look at the taking over of police departments and defunding them and whatever that… It’s not defunding them. It’s replacing them. But Marxism is essentially the establishment of a dictatorial state using tyrannical powers to enforce conformity — and if you don’t conform, you’re an enemy of the regime, and action appropriate will be taken until you see the world the right way.

And if you don’t ever, you will become a political prisoner. You can see it in Cuba. You can see it in Venezuela. You can see it in China. You can see it in the old Soviet Union. The evidence of who these people are is abundant, and it has been your entire life. It’s not theoretical. It’s still happening in most places around the world. That’s why we are so exceptional here that we have not succumbed to it.

A simple piece of paper that people honor: The Constitution. For all these 244 years, we haven’t had one elected president attempt to subvert it, really. We’ve had a couple get close, but they’ve honored the piece of paper. We have reached the point today where it’s entirely possible that the next president will be of a party that no longer respects the piece of paper and wants to rip it to shreds — and the founders knew the day would come.

They write about it. They write about how hard it is to maintain freedom; that it requires blood, war, fighting, sacrifice. You would think that freedom would be the default. It’s like I never understood why you needed special film to capture color photographs when I was a kid, ’cause when I looked out and saw things, I saw color. I didn’t see anything in black and white.

To me, color was natural. But black and white is what you got unless you spent the extra money for color film and a camera that had a lens that could use it. It didn’t make any sense to me. It’s the same thing. Freedom? Freedom seems to me to be the natural existence. It’s how we’re born. We’re all born wanting to be free. It’s our natural state.

And yet the percentage of people who have lived on this planet since the beginning of time, who have had personal liberty and freedom like we have? It is in the one to two to three percents. Tyranny is the name of the game in the world. Tyranny and totalitarianism, authoritarianism, communism, Marxism. Even before it was officially invented by Marx, it had its vestiges. But to me, freedom is… That’s what we are.

You get up, you want to do something, you go do it. You think something; you think it. If you want to say it, you say it. Now people say, “No, better not do that! Better not say that! You never know who might hear it.” People instinctively go to the bathroom to tell something that they really don’t want anybody to overhear like they used to do in the Soviet Union.

So I don’t know. Freedom is not the natural state in which most human beings have lived. It has had to be fought for every time it’s been achieved — and, at some point, it has to be fought for to be maintained, and this is the question. Are we willing — at this juncture in our nation’s history — to fight to maintain freedom, or are we not? And we don’t know. We don’t know.

Do you know that every year the ChiComs — the Chinese government — kills more of its own people than the rest of the world combined? Every year! They do it for a number of reasons, but the number one reason is because they can. The second reason is they can’t feed them all. The third reason is that some of them are religious, and we can’t have religious people in a communist country because the official religion in a communist country is the state.
