Be Of Good Cheer
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. –John 16:33,
Jesus said as long you live in the world, you’re going to have trouble. (I can vouch for that!) But you’re not just in the world. You’re in JESUS in the world, and that makes all the difference. You’re in Him and He’s overcome every kind of trouble there is.
As God’s child, you’re not the defeated trying to get the victory. You’re the overcomer, and Satan’s trying to rob you of the victory that already belongs to you
When you made Jesus the Lord of your life, you were born into victory… because the victory came to live in you. Think about it. The victorious Jesus. The Anointed One. The glorified and resurrected Lord. The Ruler of the Universe.
There is a peace that comes only in Him (16:33). Now, if it is possible for us to be “in Him,” then we, too, have access to that peace. And it so happens that we can! When we believe in Jesus with all our heart, turn to Him in repentance, and are baptized “into Christ,” we can enjoy all the spiritual blessings that can only be found “in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3, Romans 6:3-4, Galatians 3:27).
We can take hold of the peace that is so powerful that it surpasses all understanding. It allows us to be content when the world is crashing around us. It helps us to rejoice when we are tempted, knowing it helps to create patience. It helps us to endure the fiery darts of the wicked and continue to march in the fight against Satan’s wickedness (Ephesians 6).
Cheer up, my friends. We have and will continue to face troubling days, but we can do it with confidence, hope, peace, and assurance. We are told to be of good cheer. Why? Because He has overcome the world and is ever-present with His children.
If we will open our eyes to what God does for us every day, we too will see that our cup has overflowed with the love of God. When we really meditate on how awesome our God really is and what He does for us and will do for us, we will have not a problem being of good cheer.
That’s Jesus Who lives in you!
