False History Taught in Schools Incites Children to Hate America

A classroom at the MESA Charter High School in Bushwick, Brooklyn, N.Y., on Oct. 28, 2014. With the New Year upon us, a host of changes in education is set to mark the lives of the city’s students, parents, and educators alike. (Petr Svab/Epoch Times)

October 27, 2020 Updated: October 27, 2020

The history taught in public schools is “a complete and total reversal of reality” and the root cause of the civil unrest sparked by the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis that has spread across the nation, said Alex Newman, an author, and award-winning international journalist.

President Donald Trump said during the Independence Day celebration at Mount Rushmore on July 3, “Against every law of society and nature, our children are taught in school to hate their own country and to believe that the men and women who built it were not heroes, but that were villains.”

“The violent mayhem we have seen in the streets of cities that are run by liberal Democrats, in every case, is the predictable result of years of extreme indoctrination and bias in education, journalism, and other cultural institutions,” Trump said.

“He hit the nail right smack on the head. That’s what I’ve been arguing for years,” said Newman, co-author of the book “Crimes of the Educators: How Utopians are Using Government Schools to Destroy America’s Children.”

“Now, when i say [what’s been taught is] a complete and total reversal of reality, that’s what i mean,” he told The Epoch Times‘ “Crossroads” program. “It’s not hyperbole, that’s not exaggeration.”

He said what defines American people as Americans are principles enshrined in the country’s founding document, the Declaration of Independence, “that all men are created equal, and that everyone is endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights,” Newman said.

Interview with Alex Newman starts at 14:47.

However, the history taught in schools has been replaced by a historical narrative that reverses those principles, claiming that the country’s founding principles were “slavery, oppression, racism, white supremacy,” and similar things, Newman said.

An example of U.S. history reversal is a New York Times series, called the 1619 Project, created by New York Times reporter Nikole Sheri Hannah-Jones, whose opening line of an essay that won her a Pulitzer was, “Our democracy’s founding ideals were false when they were written.”

According to the 1619 Project, America was founded in 1619 when a group of 20 Africans, who were considered to be the first enslaved Africans in British America, arrived in the colony of Virginia.

The project is “essentially fake history, as historians from across the political spectrum—and even The New York Times’ own fact-checker—publicly confirmed,” Newman wrote for the Epoch Times.

Despite this criticism, the series, which posits that America was not founded on the basis of liberty in 1776, but on the basis of slavery in 1619, has become school curriculum that is taught across America, Newman said.

According to Hannah-Jones, the notion is that racism and evil are embedded in the very DNA of America, Newman said. Since DNA cannot be changed or removed, “and so what she’s really saying—as the mullahs say in Iran—’Death to America.’ You’ve got to kill America to get rid of this horrible DNA,” Newman said.

“This could not be more wrong,” because America’s founding fathers wanted to abolish slavery as it was incompatible with the country’s founding principles based on Christian values, Newman said, adding that Thomas Jefferson fought a war against slave catchers in North Africa, and James Madison, the father of the Constitution, “loathed slavery” and expressed this view on many occasions.

Almost every civilization or culture has practiced some form of slavery at a certain point in its history, Newman said.

Rewriting American History

George Washington (L) represents the struggle for independence; Thomas Jefferson (2nd L), the idea of government by the people; Theodore Roosevelt (2nd R), for the 20th-century role of the United States in world affairs; and Abraham Lincoln (R) for his ideas on equality and the permanent union of the states. (Karen Bleier/AFP/Getty Images)

The consequence of teaching wrong and reversed American history to children is that “our children hate America” and “they’re burning down our cities,” Newman said.

One of the most popular history books in the United States is Howard Zinn’s “A People’s History of the United States” which is a key text in schools and has sold more than 3 million copies, Newman said.

Dr. Mary Grabar, a resident fellow at the Alexander Hamilton Institute for the Study of Western Civilization, exposed Zinn’s distortions of American history in her book, “Debunking Howard Zinn: Exposing the Fake History that Turned a Generation against America.”

Zinn portrayed Christopher Columbus as a “genocidal monster” in his book, according to Newman, who added that Grabar already knew that Zinn’s book was biased when starting her project. However, Grabar wrote in her book that “even I was surprised by how blatantly and deliberately Zinn lied.”

Reading Columbus’s own diaries shows very clearly how Columbus was mischaracterized by Zinn. Columbus wanted to bring the Bible and Christianity to people, Newman said, and was inspired by his religious belief to embark on his journey.

“The truth, I believe is much more powerful than lies” and this is our big advantage, he said.

“Anybody can go look at the primary source documents, and investigate these things for themselves, and see what really happened.”

Chinese Communist Party Applauds 1619 Project

Chinese Red Guards, high school and university students, waving copies of Chairman Mao Zedong's "Little Red Book," parade in Beijing's streets at the beginning of the Cultural Revolution on June 1966. During China's Cultural Revolution (1966-1976), under the command of Mao, Red Guards rampaged through much of the country, humiliating, torturing, and killing perceived class enemies, and pillaging cultural symbols that were deemed as not representative of the communist revolution. “The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been openly celebrating the 1619 Project,” Newman said, because through propaganda, brainwashing, lies, indoctrination, misinformation and disinformation, and psychological warfare, Americans can be convinced to hate their own country and dismantle it from the inside. Then America’s economic or military power will no longer pose a threat to the CCP.

Americans will just “burn their own country up and that’s what we’re seeing right now,” he said. “It’s incredibly dangerous.”

The CCP, which understood this principle, launched the Cultural Revolution, one of the key elements of which was wiping out China’s true history, Newman said.

“China was this incredible civilization with thousands of years of the amazing, incredible history that contributed so much to humanity,” Newman explained, so the communists “were burning books, and they were pulling down statues and setting libraries on fire and murdering people who knew real history so that they could start from a blank slate.”

Everything prior to the communist revolution was branded “evil, backward, uncivilized, barbarous, and so on,” he said. “Everything post-Communist Revolution was wonderful and glorious, and all the rest of it.”

“That is exactly the same thing they’re trying to do in America and it’s the same thing they’ve done around the world.”

We Will Stand · Russ Taff We Will Stand / Yesterday and Today ℗ Word Entertainment, a Division of Word Music Group, Inc. Released on: 1994-01-01 Artist: Russ Taff

Sometimes it’s hard for me to understand
Why we pull away from each other so easily
Even though we’re all walking the same road
Yet we build dividing walls between
Our brothers and ourselves

But I, I don’t care what label you may wear
if you believe in Jesus you belong with me
The bond we share is all I care to see
And we can change this world forever
if you will join with me
Join and sing, sing

You’re my brother, you’re my sister
So take me by the hand
Together we will work until He comes
There’s no foe that can defeat us
When we’re walking side by side
As long as there is love
We will stand

The day will come when we will be as one
And with a mighty voice together
We will proclaim that Jesus
Jesus is King
And it will echo through the earth
It will shake the nations
And the world will see
See that

You’re my brother, you’re my sister
So take me by the hand
Together we will work until He comes
There’s no foe that can defeat us
When we’re walking side by side
As long as there is love
We will stand

The time is here, the time is now
To take a stand, to make a vow
I won’t let go, you’re not alone
Now and forever we’ll sing together

You’re my brother, you’re my sister
So take me by the hand
Together we will work until He comes
There’s no foe that can defeat us
When we’re walking side by side
As long as there is love
We will stand [x2]

God Has The Fight Decided Beforehand

Most Americans and Christians alike are living their life in Fear!”
I don’t think anyone would argue that there is a very real fear factor in the day and age we are living in.

Fear can be a disabling emotion. It can hinder a person and stop them from doing the things they want to do or need to do.

Fear in the United States is the biggest reason that over 60 million people in the United States receive prescriptions for tranquilizers every year according to FDA estimates.

Let’s face it there is a lot of fear in the world; fear of getting hurt, fear of failing, financial fears, dying fears, losing fears, and all sorts of others’ fears.

People are afraid and fearful but as a child of God, we don’t have to be afraid. We don’t have to live in fear.

1 John 5:4 – For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.

For all those who ever felt like giving up, you’re not alone. But instead of giving up, it’s time to fire up, there is something new ahead of you.

This word is for someone today, (The fight is Decided Beforehand)

Good news Child of God, I don’t care what you are going through right now, You are destined to win.

God has not given us the Spirit of Fear but of Love, Power, and a Sound Mind!
Tell your friends: (Don’t worry any longer God Has Decided Beforehand The Fight is in your favor).

Wow, what kind of boldness and confidence would it give you to know that you are guaranteed to win, that you cannot lose? That no matter how powerful or how strong your opponent is, no matter what tricks they pull.

No matter what their advantages over you may seem to be, you are the declared winner (and you haven’t even thrown the first punch)?
(Well as unbelievable as it may sound it is the truth)
I know it may not make sense (but from a God perspective) victory is (not) determined by the outcome, it is established by the income.

(In other words, it is established by faith, and faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17)

In other words, you can know you have won the fight before you ever step into the ring.

I don’t know what battle you are facing right now, I don’t know what enemy might be raised up against you right now, and I don’t know what the devil is trying to do in your life today, and I don’t know what mountain is standing in your way (but I tell you no matter who you are or what your facing the answer is the same FAITH).

#1Firm belief and trust in the loyalty of a Holy God,
#2 Something that is believed especially with strong conviction.

Victory is not external, victory is internal.

Men in the world determine victory by what’s going on around them, or not going on around them, They determine victory by the absence of external conflict,

But God determines victory by what’s going on inside of us. (This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith).

Victory Is, first of all, an attitude: (The attitude of faith)
Attitude from the dictionary means #1 A position assumed for a specific purpose, #2 A mental position with regard to a fact or a state.

When we get God’s word in our hearts it produces an attitude. A position assumed for a specific purpose and a mental position with regard to a fact or a state

See if this doesn’t help you assume a position for a specific purpose, see if this doesn’t help develop a mental position with regard to a fact or state or conditions

* We are more than conquerors through him that loved us and gave himself for us.
* Greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world.
* I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
* No weapon formed against me shall prosper, and every tongue that riseth against me in judgment I shall condemn.

I just believe somebody’s getting an attitude adjustment right now.

Victory begins with a decision: (The decision to believe that God told the truth)
Who hath believed our report and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed. Isa 53:1

(Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus Christ is the son of God.) 1Jn 5:5

Victory is a discipline: It takes a disciplined person to manifest victory, Since our victory is faith and faith is born of the Word, We must discipline ourselves to believe the word regardless of what circumstances say.

Like the widow women with her little pot of oil, She went in and shut the door. You have to shut the door to everything that contradicts the word. (You have to shut yourself into faith) and shut out everything else, (doubt, fear, confusion, feelings, pain, sometimes friends and family).

Victory demands determination: Victory is not a one-time experience, victory is a way of life, it is a spiritual life that is born in us. (This is the victory that overcometh the world even our faith.) Victory is the spirit of perseverance, Victory is the spirit that stands at the door and continues to knock even though the answer is no.

Victory is the spirit that hears the criticism but keeps on pressing.
Victory is not a life without problems, Victory is a life that faces problems with a promise.

For every problem there is a promise, Victory is the faith that (clings to the promise) until the problem is defeated.

2 Samuel 23:9 – And after he was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away.

2 Samuel 23:10 – He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and (his hand clave unto the sword): and the Lord wrought a great victory that day, and the people returned after him only to spoil.

Here is a man who became one with his sword, his hand clave unto his sword, that means his hand became welded to his sword, he held on to the promise until the problem was defeated, and your victory and mine are in becoming one with the word.

Victory is not based upon people, sometimes people actually stand in the way of victory. As in the case of Jairus Daughter (Jesus put everyone out except Peter James and John).

The old saying is, there’s strength in numbers. (That is only true to a certain extent)

That is if the numbers are in faith, and the numbers are anointed, and if the numbers believe the Promise.

(God does not recognize numbers, He recognizes faith)

Jonathon said: 1 Sam 14:6, it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few.

Victory is (not) never going through a trial, Victory is (going through) a trial 1 Peter 1:7 – That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it is tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

This is how victory goes through a trial: Victory goes through a trial knowing that it is working for you.

2 Cor 4:17-18 – This light affliction which is but for a moment (worketh for us) a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we look not at the things which are seen but at the things which are not seen for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things (work together for good) to them that Love the Lord, and are called according to his purpose.

Faith has never lost a battle, from genesis to revelation True bible believing faith has never lost a battle. But you say, you don’t know what I’m going through, I’m going through hell. I’ve never been through a storm like this before; I’ve never been through a fire like this before.

(Well you ought to be shouting right now because you just prophesied your own victory) You said I’m going through, (Say it again so you get used to hearing yourself say it, (I’m going through, I’m going through, I’m going through) I don’t care what the devil does, I don’t care what he throws at me, I’m going through.

David Said: yet though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

The fight is Decided Beforehand

It may look bad right now but the fight is Decided Beforehand and at a certain point the devil is going down because he has to. It may be the first round, the second round, or the third round (But my faith tells me the devil is going down).

Jesus said: Luke 10:19 Behold I give unto you power to tread upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Jesus said: Mark 16:17-18 – And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.
And this is the victory that overcometh the world even our faith.

The fact is, as long as the child of God stays in the arena of faith, victory is guaranteed.

Romans 16:20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly.
It may be today, it may be tomorrow, it may be a month from now, but that battle is going to end, that fiery trial is going to end, that storm is going to end, and when it does you are going to still be standing.

This is not your first fight, this is not your first storm, this is not your first trial, I know it looks bad but you’re going to make it (I prophesy to you, you are going to make it because the fight is fixed, and the only way you can lose is to not fight in the arena of faith). So take unto you the whole armor of God, strap on your shield of faith and jump into the ring, the victory is yours in Jesus name.

The fight is Decided Beforehand

Conclusion: Perhaps there is someone here who needs to come to Christ, repenting of your sin and trusting Him as your Savior. Maybe you’ve been close to that decision before, but you were afraid to respond. Why, oh why, do you fear coming to Him? He loves you. His Son died for you. Jesus rose from the dead to give you the assurance of eternal life. If you have any fear today, it ought to be that you are afraid not to come to Christ.

Yes, and many Christians need to renew a deep faith in God’s goodness. You can come and bow here in prayer, renewing your trust in the loving Savior. Come to Him, and let His love cast out fear this very day!

9 Portion Size Mistakes That Are Easy to Avoid

Measuring Portion Sizes
Verywell

Do you think you are doing a good job of sticking to your healthy diet? You might be. But chances are good that you are eating too much of certain foods. Almost everyone makes portion size mistakes, especially when they are trying to lose weight. These are the foods that most of us overeat.

Portion Size Mistakes

Scan this list of commonly eaten foods. It’s likely that you are overindulging in at least one of them. Remember, even healthy foods can derail your diet if you eat too much of them.

Cereal

Whole grain cereal
Verywell / Alexandra Shytsman

When is the last time you measured your cereal before pouring it into a bowl? Have you ever checked the Nutrition Facts label to determine the correct serving size?

For some cereals, one cup is the recommended serving size. But the American Diabetes Association lists 3/4 cup as a suggested serving. If you pour your cereal straight into the bowl, chances are good you are eating up to two servings. And if you refill the bowl (as most of us do) you may be eating 3-4 servings.

Chicken Breast

Chicken
Verywell / Alexandra Shytsman

Lean protein is healthy, right? Not if you eat too much of it. If you are eating a whole chicken breast for dinner, you might be eating too much.

The recommended single portion of chicken is 3-4 ounces, about the size of a deck of playing cards. Some people use the palm of their hand as a guide. Depending on the vendor, some chicken breasts are twice or even three times the size of a recommended serving. The calories in chicken breast can add up and ruin your diet.

Hamburger

Hamburger
Verywell / Alexandra Shytsman

If you are counting your hamburger patty as one serving of beef, you are probably underestimating the calories you’ve consumed.

A quarter-pound burger (four ounces) is slightly larger than the recommended serving size of three ounces. But many burgers, especially those served at restaurants, are 1/3 to 1/2 pound. You might be eating twice as many calories as you think you are.

Coffee Creamer

pouring coffee creamer into a glass of iced coffee
Verywell / Alexandra Shytsman

Your morning cup of java might be the most fattening—and unhealthy—thing you consume all day if you add flavored creamer. And you’re not off the hook if you use the fat-free variety since these typically have added sugars to compensate for taste. A single serving of liquid creamer is one tablespoon. Do you pull out the measuring spoons when you add cream to your coffee? Probably not.

If you are drinking more than the recommended serving (remember to count each cup of coffee!) then the added sugar in your fat-free creamer starts to add up quickly.

Cooking Spray

spraying cooking spray into a muffin tin
Verywell / Alexandra Shytsman

You might skip the oil or butter when you cook healthy meals at home. This is good! But you might be neglecting to account for the calories in your cooking spray. If you use PAM to avoid adding calories to your food you might want to know that a single serving of the spray is 1/4 of one second. Do you keep a stopwatch in your kitchen? Most of us don’t.

The Center for Science in the Public Interest evaluated the spray and reported that a more typical six-second spray would have 50 calories and 6 grams of fat.

Bread

Bread
Verywell / Alexandra Shytsman

If you pack yourself a healthy lunch of a lean meat and vegetable sandwich on whole-grain bread, congratulations! You are probably saving yourself from the belly-busting caloriefest that you’d experience if you went to a restaurant. But did you accurately record the calories in your whole grain bread? If you think your sandwich equals one serving, think again. For many bread products, a single serving is only one slice of bread. Perhaps consider a bread swap.

Fruit

Verywell / Alexandra Shytsman

A healthy serving of fresh fruit is a great alternative to a high-fat dessert. But if you are counting your calories or watching your sugar intake you need to monitor how much you are eating. Take grapes for example. If you sit down with a bowl of grapes, you might add one serving of grapes to your food diary. Wrong!

A single (cup) serving of grapes is only 16 grapes. Get out your calculator before you start chomping.

Soda

Verywell / Alexandra Shytsman

Sugary drinks are one of the easiest things to overconsume. We often put them next to us and mindlessly sip away. But the calories in soda add up, even if you only drink one a day! And for many reasons, diet soda is not a good alternative.

A serving size of Coke is 12 ounces. But most of us drink plenty more than that when we fill up at the soda fountain. A 7-11 Double Gulp contains 50 ounces and 575 calories.

Salad Dressing

Creamy salad dressing
Verywell / Alexandra Shytsman

A healthy salad is a great alternative to a high starch, high-fat meal. But the salad dressing can add calories that could make any prudent calorie counter blush. By some estimates, many restaurant salads contain over 500 calories, most often due to the fatty dressing.

A serving size of salad dressing is just two tablespoons. If you order your dressing on the side, your waiter will probably bring you much more than that and if you’re like many restaurant diners, you pour all of it on your salad.

Nutrition Facts vs. Portion Size

No matter what kind of food you are eating, portion size matters. Even if you are eating “healthy” food, you should be mindful of the amount that you consume. But you may not be able to use the Nutrition Facts label as a guide. This is a common blunder made by many.

The serving size listed on the label is not the recommended portion size. It is simply the amount that most people consume when they sit down to eat that particular food. It might also be the amount of food listed in your automated food log or diet app.

The best way to manage portion control is to measure your foods with inexpensive kitchen tools like a measuring cup, measuring spoons, or (my favorite) a digital scale. You can also measure foods without a scale, but calibrated tools are more accurate. Then keep a quick quide to the correct portion sizes for weight loss posted nearby as a reference.

Then, record the foods accurately with a calorie counting app. Most of the apps and websites allow you to customize your portion when you add each food. You may be surprised how just measuring your food makes a big difference in your food intake and probably in the way your clothes fit.
